Dixon House, Garage Fires Displace 7
BREAKING: Both structures are uninhabitable and the Red Cross responded to help secure housing, Dixon fire Chief Jay Bushrow said.

DIXON, CA — A fire displaced seven people in a house and a detached two-car garage Wednesday morning in Dixon, the city's fire chief said. The fire started in the garage, half of which was used as living space by a female tenant, according to Dixon Fire Department Chief Jay Bushrow. Radiant heat from that fire then burned the attic of the house next to the garage where a family of six lived, Bushrow said.
The fire at 360 N. First St. was reported around 7:40 a.m. The father at the home took three children to school before the fire started and the mother reported the fire and escaped safely with an infant, Bushrow said.
The female tenant in the garage also escaped safely.

The fires were controlled within 45 minutes, and firefighters remained at the scene until about 10:30 a.m., Bushrow said.
Both structures are uninhabitable and the Red Cross responded to help secure housing. A third structure on the property, Victorian duplex, did not catch fire, according to Bushrow.
