Dixon Mayfair Youth Market Animal Ear Tagging This Saturday

Solano county youth who intent to exhibit a market sheep or goat must bring their animals for ear tagging and pre-weigh-ins this Saturday.

All youth who intend to exhibit market steer, market sheep, and market goats at the 2016 Dixon May Fair, May 5th - 8th, must bring their animals for ear tagging and pre-weigh-ins. Although it is too late to enter a market steer, market sheep and market goats will be tagged on Saturday, March 5th between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Exhibitors will need to submit entry forms and pay fees the day of tagging. Youth intending to exhibit market swine must have their swine tagged, entry form and fees in by March 4, 2016.

Advisors, leaders and parents of swine exhibitors need to come to the fair office at 655 South First Street in Dixon to pick up ear tags.Ear tags will be available for pick up from February 22, 2016 to March 2, 2016. Office hours are: Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to Noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The eligiblity requirements for Independent Juniors have changed for the 2016 fair. An Independent Junior is someone not affiliated with 4-H, FFA or Grange. Market classes are only open to members of a Solano County 4-H, FFA or Grange organization. Independent Juniors are eligible to exhibit market animals at the Dixon May Fair if they live and attend school in Solano County. Independent Juniors are encouraged to contact the fair office, prior to December, to assure they are eligible to exhibit a market animal at the Dixon May Fair.
