Dixon Police Awarded Grant to Help Encourage Kids to Walk and Bike to School
The Dixon Police Department has been awarded a $1,000 grant to help promote a Solano County walk- and bike-to-school program.

DIXON, CA -- The Dixon Police Department has been awarded a $1,000 grant by the Solano Transit Authority's Safe Routes to School program, which encourages children to walk and bike to school.
The grant is a youth engagement pilot program designed to increase youth leadership and involvement in Safe Routes to School. The DPD says the grant money will be used to purchase bicycle safety spoke reflectors, ride safe bracelets, kids school bookmarks with safety tips and bicycle safety activity books for children.
The safety presentations are to be conducted on campus, during school by the Dixon Police Department cadets; at which time the free gifts will be given to participating children. The Solano Transit Authority will also be on site during the safety demonstrations.
