Driver Leads Vacaville Police On Chase

The pursuit early Monday ended in a crash and foot pursuit, police say.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — Vacaville police arrested a West Virginia man early Monday morning after he allegedly tried to flee from officers. Just after 3 a.m., officers stopped a gold Subaru on Depot Street near East Monte Vista Avenue. The driver initially pulled over but then sped away as the officer approached, police said.

During the pursuit, the driver more than doubled the posted speed limit and crashed into a field on Markham Avenue, police said.

The driver tried to flee the crash on foot, but was quickly captured by officers a short distance away, police said.

The driver was identified as 32-year-old Kenneth Sherman of Moorefield, West Virginia. He was arrested and booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of resisting an officer and felony evading, police said.

No one was injured during the pursuit and arrest, police said.

Police said they did not know why Sherman ran from officers. The case is under investigation and anyone with information can contact Offier Outly at 707-449-5200.
