Elk Grove Woman Identified As Fatal Vacaville Shooting Victim
The 22-year-old's on-again, off-again boyfriend is jailed on suspicion of her murder, according to Vacaville police.
SOLANO COUNTY, CA — A woman who was fatally shot allegedly by her boyfriend in Vacaville on Sunday has been identified by police as Samantha Jack, 22, of Elk Grove. Jack suffered a single gunshot wound to the upper chest, Vacaville police Lt. Chris Polen said.
Police arrested her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Gage Harold Pontarelli, 24, of Vacaville. He pleaded not guilty Tuesday and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Solano County Superior Court on Aug. 31.
Police found Jack's body around 3 a.m. Sunday in a detached garage on Pontarelli's mother's property in the 400 block of Kentucky Street, Polen said.

Pontarelli and Jack had a sporadic dating relationship for the past year, and there were no prior calls about violence at the Kentucky Street address, Polen said.
Police located a semi-automatic firearm, and Pontarelli cooperated with the investigation and his arrest, Polen said.
