Fireworks Group Holds Seminar for Dixon Nonprofits With One More on the Way

Several representatives of Dixon's nonprofit groups gathered at the Vets Hall in Dixon to hear some information about Safe-and-Sane Fireworks.

During the last Dixon City Council meeting, the question was raised of where are the nonprofit agencies that would benefit from the sale of Safe-and-Sane fireworks?

That question was answered last night at the Veterans Hall as TNT Fireworks held an informational seminar concerning the fireworks. Twenty-five individuals enjoyed a spaghetti dinner and listened to TNT Fireworks account managers, Sally Sullivan Doerr and Milton Broussard, and Dennis Revell, president of Revell Communications public relations, talk about the intricacies of the sales of fireworks.

The trio spoke about everything from how nonprofit groups will be chosen to sell the fireworks, how to take payments, where to store the fireworks and when and where the fireworks will be sold.

At the meeting, TNT Fireworks signed up some of the nonprofit representatives for contracts that essentially said that once the city council adopts the fireworks ordinance, TNT will supply the nonprofit agencies with the product. Some of the groups conveyed that they would have to take the information to their respective boards for a vote.

Although nothing is set in stone, the fireworks retailer said that they were working alongside city leaders - including Dixon Fire Chief Aaron McAlister - to help draft and ordinance to present to the city council.
