How would you feel about Dixon becoming the new location for Lucasfilm's 270,000-square-foot production compound?

Dixon Downs was a bust, but the space where the proposed racetrack would have been located had it been approved by voters could be a great place for producing the next Lucasfilm blockbuster.

Ever since negotiations for the new 270-square-foot digital media production facility fell through in Marin County, Lucasfilm has been on the lookout for a new location for its facility.

The Fairfield Daily Republic recently reported that someone contacted Dixon’s Economic Development Director Mark Heckey so that he may put them in contact with the owners of the land where Dixon Downs would have been situated, north of the city.

In the Daily Republic’s story, someone looking to build a production company in Dixon contacted Heckey, but Heckey told the DR that the caller would not identify the name of the production company.

The mysterious call leaves a big “What if” hanging in the air for Dixon, considering that the Fairfield and Vallejo are also vying for Lucasfilm to build the facility in those cities.
