New Details Emerge About East Bay Babysitter Arrest for Abusing Baby

LIVERMORE, CA- New details have been released about the incident involving the East Bay, 20-year old, babysitter suspected of abusing a 13-month old boy in Livermore.

According to ABC News, the surveillance video from a nanny camera shows Moriah Gonzales attempting to calm down the child, then lower child with her hand near his face, with audible crying. The video then reportedly show Moriah place her hands closer to the child’s face and the cry became muffled, showing the child squirming silently. It then shows the child go limp.

ABC News also reported that Care.com release a statement with their condolences and have removed the caregiver from their site.

Officials began investigating the reported abuse allegations on Feb. 18. According to police, Moriah Gonzales, 20, who advertised her services on Care.com, was taken into custody and booked into the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin on Feb. 19.

Following her arrest, the District Attorney filed one count of 273a(a) PC against Gonzales. Police say the investigation is sensitive and ongoing.

Investigators ask anyone who may have used Gonzales’ services to contact LPD at (925) 294-7531.
