'Operation Cookie Drop' Prepares to Deploy on Travis Air Force Base

The men and women of Travis Air Force Base are about to receive a shipment of baked goods this holiday season.

Members from the Dixon Chamber of CommerceΒ and Team Travis are preparing to deploy a bevvy of cookies down on Travis Air Force base crewmembers this holiday season.

Operation Cookie Drop, an annual event done during the holidays for the single airmen and women living on base. The effort comes by way of the members from Travis Team, a group of about 14,800 active duty, reservists and civilian employeesΒ who have come together to bake cookies, by the dozens, and deliver them in disposableΒ containers to two locations on base.

The volunteers then take those cookies andΒ sort them into groups to be delivered by the first sergeants to the service members living in the dorms, those who might not have family in the area or might not beΒ going home for the holidays.
