Police Search For Man Who Attempted to Kidnap Two Dixon Girls
The girls' bravery, as well as their loud screams, saved them from being kidnapped, police said

Two Dixon girls are safe at home after a man attempted to kidnap them Wednesday evening police said.
The is on the lookout for the attempted kidnapper.
The girls – ages 12 and 8, who are sisters and whose names are withheld because they are juveniles and because they are alleged victims of a crime – were at Veterans Park on the 1300 block of Valley Glen Drive, police said.

The girls were playing when the man – described as a white male adult, 5 feet 11 inches tall, between the ages of 40 and 50, blue eyes, with either a bald or very short blond hair, last seen wearing a blue shirt, blue shorts and white shoes with an “S” on the side – approached them and asked them a question.
As the elder sister began to answer him, he allegedly grabbed her by the waist and lifted up the front of her shirt according to police. The younger sister grabbed onto her elder sister and attempted to pull her away from the kidnapper.

The suspect let go of the girl but then set his sights on the younger sister. Police said he then grabbed onto the younger girl from behind. She began yelling and the man left go of her and fled the area.
Police arrived on scene around 5:50 p.m., and searched the area but were not able to locate the man. The sisters did the right thing during the attempted kidnapping and were not injured.
“They did a good job by fighting back and yelling and make a lot of noise,” Dixon Police Sgt. Ron Willingmyre said.
As of 5:09 p.m., the Dixon Police Department was still searching for the man.
The attempted kidnapping is under investigation. The department encourages anyone who may have witnessed the incident, observed anyone matching the description of the suspect or who has any information to contact the Dixon Police Department at (707) 678-7070.
