Readers' Choice Best Breakfast: A Street Deli

Who make the best breakfast in Dixon? Readers of Dixon Patch have selected , of Dixon's locally-owned restaurants, as the best breakfast in town.

For the past 30 years A Street Deli owner Mike Merritt has been serving hot plates of eggs benedict and other breakfast staples to hungry Dixonites.

"That really makes me feel really good that the community stands behind me in this," Merritt said.

Merritt, who grew up in Dixon, has come to know many of the customers who frequent A Street Deli each morning in search of breakfast, giving him a unique bond with his customers, he said.

 "I grew up here and I know most of my people, the Dixonites, I get to visit them every day," he said. "That's probably what makes my job best."

A Street Deli is famous for it's most popular breakfast dish, eggs benedict, Merritt said, but the menu consists of biscuits and gravy, sandwiches, pancakes and much more.
