Starting Dec. 19, readers of the Vacaville Reporter will not be able to get a print edition of the newspaper, but will still have access to it online.
A big change is on the way at the Vacaville Reporter.

The move is prompted by reading trends according to Vacaville Reporter Publisher Jim Gleim.

"The decision to end Monday print editions, a step being taken by newspapers across the country, was made after evaluating the changing lifestyle preferences by most readers and how they consume their news," Gleim wrote in a letter to readers, advertisers and distributors that is included in today's edition of the Reporter. "Readers are demanding that we provide our content in ways that suit those lifestyles."
Gleim points out that it's been six months since the Reporter launched its smart-phone applications and recently introduced a tablet application available at the iStore to help meet its readers' demands.

The suspension of Monday's print edition means that Sunday's edition will be flush with some of the features -- including the daily crossword puzzle, the horoscopes and Sudoku -- that subscribers have grown accustomed to in Monday's edition.
The Reporter also announced that its dropping its pay wall beginning on Dec. 19, so that its users have access to all the stories that appear online at thereporter.com. Anyone who has an online-only subscription to the Reporter will be refunded the unused portion of their subscription, the Reporter said.
