Scammers Targeting Dixon Residents Citing Past Due Water Bills

Dixon Police Department warns residents that they've received multiple reports of fraudulent calls demanding payment for water bills.

The Dixon Police Department has sent out an alert to the community about new phone scam.

According to a press release, numerous Dixon residents have reported receiving phone calls regarding past due water bills.

The caller threatens to shut off the victim’s water and directs the victim to go to Walmart to submit a payment via Western Union. The calls reportedly show a caller ID with β€œDixon” in the title, but these calls are NOT from the City of Dixon.
These calls are a scam, do not send any money to unknown parties via Western Union.

Dixon police and the City of Dixon are urging residents to β€œplease spread the word of this scam to your family and friends to prevent anybody from being victimized by these scammers”.
