Sports Authority To Close Or Sell 143 Stores Nationwide: Full List

The company is closing the stores as part of a bankruptcy protection filing.

Sports Authority, a nationwide chain selling affordable sports equipment, some of it second-hand, has tabbed more than 140 stores for closure or sale as part of its a company bankruptcy, according to court documents obtained by Patch.

Sports Authority operates 463 stores across 41 states and Puerto Rico and has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, an attempt to restructure massive company debt to keep it from going under.

The143 closing locations in all could be bought individually, or in bulk from a sporting retailer like Dick’s.

Moody’s Investors Service downgraded Sports Authority’s Probability of Default, saying that β€œThe negative outlook reflects Moody’s view that the company may have difficulty refinancing its debt without restructuring or impairment to lenders.”

A Sports Authority press release said that gift cards, loyalty programs and warranties won’t be affected by the closings.
