The gang at Tremont 4-H Club of Dixon invites an Elmira 4-H'er for a Rabbit Fun Day in Dixon
Rabbit Fun Day
by Caitlin Miller, 11 years old, Elmira 4-H Club
On March 19, 2011 I went on a field trip to the Happy Ranch to visit the Tremont Rabbit Project. What fun they are. You should see all the neat rabbits they all have. Of course, I brought my rabbit too.
When I showed up, there was a lineup of rabbits with numbers on them. We had to guess what the breed of each rabbit was. There were about 10 breeds of rabbits that we got to guess from. Guess what, it is harder to do than you think, even if you have been in the rabbit group that long. They paired up a senior rabbit person with a junior rabbit person to make it fair.

We also played games learning about rabbit body parts, diseases, and what are rabbit disqualifications instead of faults. The best game we played was Rabbit Bingo for prizes and everyone won at least two prizes.
We ate, played games, had fun, laughed, and played with the rabbits. What more can anyone ask for on a fun, rainy day field trip?

Rabbit Fun day
by Taralynne Ritchey, Tremont 4-H Club
On March 19 my project group from Tremont 4-H had a rabbit fun day. One member of another club joined us for a fun day of learning. We met at the Happy Ranch in Dixon where my leaders had set up stations for us to test our knowledge. The different stations were body parts identification, bones identification, matching definitions of diseases, word search, and crossword puzzle. We also learned from a game called “Is it a Fault or Disqualification”.
We had 10 rabbits for breed identification, and then we played rabbit BINGO. I had lots of fun with the bingo. We ate hotdogs. Each of us went home with a carpet square for showing our rabbit on. The best part was when I got to share my knowledge with the younger girl from the other club.
A big thank you goes to my leader Audrey Ritchey and co-leader Janeen Hermon for all their work teaching us.
