Vacaville Man Accused Of Murdering Girlfriend

Police responded to the slaying around 3 a.m. Sunday and found the woman's body in the garage.

VACAVILLE, CA — Vacaville police arrested a man on suspicion of fatally shooting his girlfriend Sunday, a police lieutenant said. Gage Pontarelli, 24, of Vacaville, is suspected of shooting his 22-year-old girlfriend once in the chest in a detached garage on his mother's property in the 400 block of Kentucky Street, Lt. Chris Polen said.

Police responded to the slaying around 3 a.m. Sunday and found the woman's body in the garage.

Pontarelli and the woman had an on-and-off dating relationship for the past year, and there were no prior calls about violence at the Kentucky Street address, Polen said.

Police located a semi-automatic firearm, and Pontarelli cooperated with the investigation and his arrest, Polen said.
