Art Auction Fundraiser for Dublin Arts Collective & USS Hornet Museum
The USS Hornet Museum and DAC are partnering for an art auction fundraiser on Sept 28th, featuring live music by Riddim Exchange Collective

Art lovers and history enthusiasts are in for a treat next week, as the Dublin Arts Collective (DAC) partners with the USS Hornet Air, Sea and Space Museum for an exclusive art auction fundraiser.
This highly anticipated event is scheduled for September 28th, 2024, from 6 PM to 9 PM, on board the historic USS Hornet aircraft carrier, docked in Alameda. With a live band, gourmet dinner, and both a live and silent auction, attendees are promised an evening to remember.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will support both the museum’s mission of preserving American naval history and the visual arts community represented by the Dublin Arts Collective. The USS Hornet, a storied aircraft carrier that played a key role in World War II and the Apollo 11 recovery mission, is the perfect backdrop for an event celebrating both history and culture. The museum is a Smithsonian Affiliate, working to preserve heritages, expand knowledge and inspire learning and is known for housing remarkable vintage aircraft and even the iconic Apollo 11 capsule, giving guests a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in history while supporting the arts.

The Afro-Jazz Band, ‘Riddim Exchange Collective’ will be performing live. The Riddam Exchange Collective is a Bay Area based Afro-Fusion Band that has created a unique way of infusing Afro elements into multiple genres. Organizers have shared their enthusiasm for the event, noting that it’s the first collaboration between the two nonprofit organizations. “It’s our first joint fundraiser and a wonderful opportunity to support two nonprofits that bring unique perspectives on life to Alameda County," said DAC President, Julia Tomtania.
This auction will feature a wide range of artworks from local Bay Area artists, giving patrons the chance to bid on exceptional pieces, while knowing that their contributions will go toward fostering the local arts scene and maintaining the USS Hornet’s historical significance.
Whether you’re an art aficionado or a history buff, the night promises to offer something for everyone. Those attending will play a crucial role in supporting both the vibrant arts community and the museum’s preservation efforts. This iconic evening is not just a celebration of talent and history, but a chance to give back to organizations that enrich the cultural fabric of the Bay Area.

“Since attending the New Year celebration on the USS Hornet I found it to be a magnificent place of history and what a wonderful way to present our community with an amalgamation of history and art, past and present,” commented event organizer Sawsan Wolski.
