Danville Man To Be Arraigned On Child Sex Charges

Danville resident and former elementary school volunteer Angelo Zandona will enter pleas on two felony charges of child sex abuse Tuesday.

DANVILLE, CA — Danville resident and former school volunteer Angelo Zandona is set to be arraigned Tuesday morning on multiple felony counts of child sexual assault, according to Alameda County Superior Court records.

Zandona was released on bail from Santa Rita Jail in April 2024, a jail representative confirmed to Patch. That month, Zandona pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of Intercourse or Sodomy With a Child 10 or Under, according to records from Alameda County Superior Court. He also denied allegations related to violent conduct and bodily harm on a vulnerable victim, which were listed as sentencing enhancements. On February 25, 2025, a judge ruled that there was sufficient evidence for the case to move to trial on the two charges.

He will be arraigned and formally enter his pleas Tuesday at 9 a.m. in Department 705 of the East County Hall of Justice on 5151 Gleason Drive in Dublin.

Patch reached out to Zandona's attorney, but has not heard back as of Monday afternoon.

In 2024, a spokesperson for the San Ramon Valley Unified School District confirmed to Patch that Zandona was approved as a Level One volunteer at John Baldwin Elementary School from roughly 2016 - when the alleged incident occurred - to 2018. A Level One volunteer is allowed to volunteer in the classroom, chaperone day field trips as a non-driver, and support campus activities. To be approved, Level One volunteers must apply online and submit to a sex offender registry search.

He allegedly volunteered elsewhere in the community, but Patch could not confirm this.
