Dublin 2024 Citizen Of The Year, Other Award Recipients Honored

The city honored the recipients of the 2024 Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Organization of the Year, and other awards.

DUBLIN, CA — Dublin has announced the recipients of the 2024 Citizen, Young Citizen, and Organization of the Year Awards, who were selected for outstanding contributions to the community. Click on the links to learn more about their work.

Citizen of the Year: Daniel Colley, chair of the Parks and Community Services Commission. Colley also volunteers with the Dublin Senior Center, Youth Advisory Committees, Dublin High School, and at at numerous community events.

Young Citizen of the Year: Suhani Gupta founded the Neuro Health Alliance, and partnered with Dublin Unified School District to develop interactive anti-cyberbullying training programs. She has also worked with Dublin Mayor's Council to develop community mental health campaigns, and serves as the Vice President of the junior class at Dublin High School.

Organization of the Year: Sensory Wall, a program led by an Eagle Scout who also serves on the Dublin Mayor's Council, created sensory boards that helped reduce anxiety and foster focus for over 200 Dublin Students. They also organized events like a sensory-friendly holiday fair and community art showcase that brought together over 500 residents.

At the February 19 ceremony at the Shannon Community Center, Mayor Sherry Hu also presented the Mayor's Award to Susan Yan Tang, and the Mayor's Legacy Award to Bonnie Terra, the local division chief of the Alameda County Fire Department.

Recipients will be recognized at the March 4 city council meeting.

The Organization of the Year will receive a $500 cash prize, and a $300 donation will be given to the favorite nonprofits of the Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year. Two other finalists in each category will receive $200 for their favorite nonprofits.
