Dublin Seeks Volunteers For The 35th Anniversary

The City of Dublin is looking for volunteers who are interested in volunteering for Dublin's 35th 'Emerald' Anniversary.

From The City of Dublin: The City of Dublin is seeking volunteers to assist with multiple activities planned for this year’s Dublin Pride Week, April 29 through May 6, 2017. The theme this year is “Celebrate Dublin, Our Emerald City,” in honor of the City’s 35th “Emerald” anniversary.

Dublin Pride Week seeks to demonstrate ways in which individuals or groups can act to improve our community, and work to improve the world, through volunteerism and environmental awareness. In 2016, over 750 volunteers assisted on projects throughout the Dublin community, from helping seniors with household maintenance and yard work to elementary, middle, and high school beautification projects, including painting and landscape work. Additionally, volunteers participated in a number of parks and non-profit clean-up projects around the City. “Dublin residents are very committed to their city,” says Dublin Mayor David Haubert. “They always come out in great numbers during Dublin Pride Week to better our community by working at parks, schools, and for our seniors. In doing so, we all strive to make an impact environmentally and socially.”The program encourages youth participation and hosts an annual poster and essay contest to engage youth in the event. This year’s essay contest theme is identifying actions residents can take in the next 35 years to reduce our impact on the environment.

The 2017 poster contest theme is “Celebrate Dublin, Our Emerald City.” Several community groups, faith-based groups, and service organizations will assist in providing volunteers and support for the event. Those interested in volunteering can visit the Dublin Pride Week website at www.dublinprideweek.com or call (925) 833-6630.2017 Events and ActivitiesThe following events and activities will take place throughout Dublin Pride Week:• “Volunteer Day” – Saturday, April 29, 8:00 a.m. – noon.
