Outdoor Dining Is Here To Stay In Dublin

The Dublin City Council paved the way for businesses to seek permanent outdoor seating options and get reimbursed for related expenses.

DUBLIN, CA — Dublin residents who picked up a new appreciation for al fresco dining during the pandemic will continue to have expanded outdoor dining options, the Dublin City Council decided last week.

The council voted unanimously Aug. 17 to allow food and drink establishments to offer outdoor dining options in parking spaces. Businesses may either seek to offer outdoor dining on a long-term or permanent basis.

The council OK'd changes to city zoning ordinances in order to provide outdoor dining options "to aid in economic recovery post-COVID-19," according to a report prepared by Dublin Principal Planner Michael P. Cass.
