Comments of the Week: 'The Bicycles Should Be Licensed'
Check out the best, funniest, strangest and most informative things our readers have to say.

We take pride in our work here at Patch and always strive to bring our readers interesting news. However, we must admit, sometimes the most interesting part of a great Patch story is the comments from readers that it sparks.
Here are some of the best, funniest, strangest and most informative comments on Eagle Rock Patch this past week.
Our most commented on story this week was about—what else—bike lanes. As new lanes are currently being installed on Colorado Boulevard, Eagle Rockers are still busy debating their pros and cons on Patch. Our recent story on the issue has garnered 46 comments (and a few that had to be taken down). Reader jack gets our Comment of the Week for bringing a new idea to what has been a well-debated issue, and for a creative response to being accused by another reader of living in his parent's basement:
With Bike Lanes a Reality, What's Next for the Colorado Blvd. Vision Plan?

@ Eagle Rock Avenger: Sorry to disappoint but I'm a cranky independent and my parents have been dead for years, nor did they have a basement. You want to make E. R. better/safer? The bicycles should be licensed, with the license displayed as well as a current registration tag displayed, and the bike rider should have insured as well as uninsured vehicle coverage. Bike riders are moving vehicles on the road and should be subject to the same rules as automobile drivers. That's pretty democratic, don't ya think?
A story earlier in the week about bike lanes also got folks talking, with 29 comments. As usual, a lot of the comments are back-and-forth arguing. But EagleRockMom brought some level-headedness to the discussion.

Oh well. If you can't beat them then join them. I am not a fan of the new bike lanes but I have no choice other than to go with the flow [of traffic]. I hope these changes to Colorado do what they are designed to do.
Our Boards section is a place where readers can sound off, advertise something to buy or sell, or, as is becoming more and more common, look for a lost pet. Reader klauschie let Eagle Rockers know about a found dog -
Yesterday afternoon we found this very friendly, gray and white, female American bulldog wandering on La Roda Ave., north of Colorado, in Eagle Rock.
