Huizar's Staff Calls Ghost Hunter After Strange Happenings in Field Office

The Daily Beast reports the story as part of a profile of an LAPD sergeant who also hunts ghosts.

This story posted on Sept. 16, but if you missed it, it certainly makes for an interesting and unordinary read.

According to the Daily Beast, the staff of Los Angeles City Councilman Jose Huizar reported strange happenings at a temporary field office and called LAPD Sgt. Miguel Lopez, who moonlights as a ghost hunter.

The story is a profile of Lopez, but contains this interesting anecdote about Huizar, who represents Eagle Rock and other parts of Northeast Los Angeles:

More recently, he investigated the strange happenings at the temporary field office of Los Angeles city councilman Jose Huizar. As soon as they moved in, some staff members began hearing strange knocking noises, bells ringing, and the fire alarm system going off. There were times they even felt woozy.

“We started making excuses,” said administrative assistant Hilda Carrillo. “It was an old building. We thought maybe it is the air conditioning. We ignored it, but it was happening too much.”

The office, located at 1868 East 1st St. in Boyle Heights, used to be the location of a rowdy, violent bar called Leon De Oro, and administrative assistant Hilda Carrillo believed the ghost had been killed at the bar, acording to the story.

The details get creepier — a member of the cleaning staff claims to have come face-to-face with the ghost, and Carrillo heard furniture being moved around an upstairs office when no one was there.

Lopez "cleansed" the building and the strange happenings in the building stopped, according to the story. Huizar also no longer uses the building as a field office.
