Caller Threatens To 'Shoot Up' Bay Area School: Police

Police are actively investigating and searching for the suspect who called.

EAST PALO ALTO, CA — A school in East Palo Alto received a threat Tuesday afternoon from a called who said they were going to "shoot up" the school.

The Primary School in East Palo Alto was locked down and searched but East Palo Alto Police Department and Menlo Park Police Department officers after they received a report around 2:30 p.m. about the call.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the school was secured and searched,” police said.

Once police deemed the area safe, students were released to their parents.

There were no reported injuries and no physical threat discovered, police said.

The Primary School, a private, tuition-free institution, operates in collaboration with community organizations and health care providers. Funding for the school is provided by the California State Preschool Program and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.
