The 33rd annual Lotus Festival will go on as scheduled, July 9-10, 2011, at Echo Park Lake.
But the much-beloved Dragon Boat race has been cancelled, again.
Race organzier Kimmie Gin said so Monday afternoon in an email.

The deadline to sign up for the race was Friday, June 10. The races are normally a highlight of the Lotus Festival.

They were also cancelled in 2010. The race website only has results through 2008.
The long-standing Lotus Festival will take place just before the Echo Park Lake is fenced off for landscaping, draining and restoration.
