CD 13 Candidate to Host Roundtable on Neighborhood Councils

Mitch O'Farrell will chair a discussion on the state of the movement Wednesday at Taix Restaurant.

O'Farrell plans to host 13 discussions on a variety of topics.

Future topics will include: Public Safety, Infrastructure & Public Works, Transportation, Youth & Education, Seniors, Business and Economic Development, Animal Welfare, the City Budget Deficit, Housing Policy, Homeless & Veterans Issues, Planning/Development, and Environmental Policy/Los Angeles River.

In a statement, O'Farrell says he hopes to "foster an open dialogue on issues that affect residents the most.

O'Farrell served as a staff member in Council District 13 representative Eric Garcetti's office for nine years before resigning to run for office.

Before that he was active in neighborhood politics.

He says that as a founder of the Glassell Park Neighborhood Council needs a "stronger support system" and "consistent standards."

The dates of other roundtables will be announced in the following weeks.

The municipal primary election is March 5, 2013. Other candidates for the CD 13 seat include Jose Sigala, Ruben Martinez, Josh Post and Scott Crawford.
