Echo Park's Magic Gas To Become 'Echo Fuels'?

The gas pumps at the legendary Magic Gas now say "Echo Fuels".

Is more change in store for this last outpost of a once major discount-priced gas chain?

Could be.

An employee at the stations said Wednesday that the city is requiring the changes, though, apparently, the underground tanks are not being replaced.

He also told us that the "Magic Gas" sign at the corner of Morton and Echo Park avenues will come down--within the next few days.

Will it say "Magic Gas" or "Echo Fuels"? We shall see.

The Magic Gas signs were briefly changed to read Magic Fuel in 2009. But after public outcry the owners quickly changed them back.

Echo Fuels LLC, by the way, is a company based in Boca Raton, Florida, not Echo Park.
