Dodgers Ask to Auction Media Rights Soon
The Dodgers petitioned a federal bankruptcy court Saturday to permit a possible auction of media rights in the next few months. An auction of the team and nearby parking lots is also expected to be completed by April 30.
The move would require a concession from current rights owner Fox.
Fox issued a statement Saturday saying that it would actively defend its current media rights.
Prime Ticket holds the Dodgers' media rights through 2013 and has a right of "first negotiation" that begins in November 2012 for a new deal.
