Frank McCourt and MLB Strike Deal to Sell Dodgers

It could be the end of an embattled era.

Frank McCourt has agreed to sell the Dodgers.

Major League Baseball and McCourt came to an agreement about 8:30 Tuesday evening to pursue an auction in bankruptcy court.

The sale would include the team as well as Dodger Stadium and the surrounding parking lots.

The Blackstone Group LP wil manage the sale process.

The new owner would be third one since Pete O’Malley sold the team in 1998.

McCourt bought the Dodgers in 2004 for $421 million. The Los Angeles Times says the club could sell for two or three times that amount.

The L.A. Times also reported this evening that sports entrepreneur Mark Cuban had expressed interest in buying the team this summer, but balked at the price tag.

Roger Arrieta of the Facebook Group "Mark Cuban Save the Dodgers," posted Tuesday night that there will be a "Victory Rally" Wednesday outside the Dodger Stadium gates.

Arrieta organized a similar rally in July in support of Cuban.
