Then Thursday morning, city council district 13’s Eric Garcetti also took a stand against the license.

Here’s his statement as provided by CD 13’s Julie Wong:

After listening to community members on both sides and giving the issue careful consideration, Council President Garcetti decided to oppose the permit because he feels it is not quite right for the location at this time.

Wong said that Garcetti’s position came after he heard from a number of constituents.

The EastsiderLA reported it came at Garcia’s request.

Recently the Echo Park Neighborhood Council voted to the support the license.

Board president Jose Sigala has long floated the idea of an “alcohol zone” in Echo Park where alcohol-serving businesses might be concentrated.

Fix owner Marc Galucci declined to comment.
