New Stamp Set with Selena, Celia Cruz is a Hit in Echo Park
The Latin Music Legends (Forever) stamp set also features Tito Puente, Carlos Garel and Carmen Miranda.
The United States Postal Service launched its Latin Music Legends (Forever) stamp set on Wednesday. Patch stopped by the Edendale branch late in the day to see how sales of the set were going.
Workers at Edendale—who declined to be photographed—said there had been a limited rollout of a 20 stamp set, or pane. But they assured Patch that at $8.80 the sets were flying out of there, with less than a dozen still available.
A worker said normally there would be back up in the branch vault. But, apparently, all the available inventory had been cleared out.

Designed by San Diego-based artist Rafael Lopez, the stamps feature Selena, Carmen Miranda, Celia Cruz, Tito Puente and Carlos Garel. The artists were selected because they represented different kinds of popular Latin music including tejano, tango, samba, Latin jazz and salsa.

Each musician is depicted in mid-performance. Art Director Ethel Kessler says, "My goal was that when you see the stamp, you hear the music."
