Poll: Does Houston Death Make It More Likely You'll Watch the Grammys?

Whitney Houston was discovered dead Saturday afternoon at the Beverly Hilton, just before a pre-Grammy gala there. Jennifer Hudson, and possibly others, will perform a tribute at Sunday's Grammys.

Whitney Houston has passed away at 48.

The R&B diva was discovered dead in her hotel room at the Beverly Hilton Saturday afternoon.

The cause of death has yet to be determined. Foul play is considered unlikely given Houston's long battle with drugs and alcohol.

Houston was a really big pop star who won six Grammys and starred in movies like The Bodyguard.

And, yes, there was the troubled marriage to Bobby Brown.

But her death is reverberating internationally.

Echo Park Hipsters Loved Whitney Too

It's clear Houston mattered to Echo Parquenos too--to tastemakers and musicians who might not share her musical style, but loved great music.

Early Saturday evening, Echo Park Time Bank founder Autumn Rooney changed her Facebook profile picture to one of Houston in her prime.

About the same time, folk rockers Olin and the Moon posted this on their Facebook page:

RIP Whitney Houston. Such an amazing artist.

KROQ DJ  Kat Corbett threw up a picture on Twitter of a holiday card she'd received from Houston and her then husband Bobby Brown.

And how's this from blogger Ashely Jex, who also is a music executive for the Adult Swim Cartoon Network:

In TOTAL shock right now http://www.cnn.com/2012/02/11/showbiz/whitney-houston-dead/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

A link to what many are saying was Houston's last live performance is already circulating on the Internet.

Interestingly, it was on Thursday, at a pre-Grammy gala.

How Will Sunday's Grammy Awards Show Honor Whitney?

Houston, of course, won a number of Grammy awards herself and even posted on her Facebook page this week about how excited she was about the upcoming Grammy show.

Sony Records President Clive Davis had also noted how much Houston loved the Grammys and hinted she might make an unannounced appearance at his pre-Grammy gala at the Beverly Hilton Saturday night.

Echo Park Patch, for one, was curious about how/and if the producers would  respond to Houston's death with such late notice.

And, according to Entertainment Tonight,  Jennifer Hudson and Chaka Khan will perform a special tribute to Houston at the show.

Which raises this question:

Does Houston's death make it any more likely you'll watch the Grammys program Sunday--which we know many in Echo Park would dismiss as irrelevant.
