Residents Voice Concerns About Metrolink Yard Noise, Pollution in Glendale Narrows

A standing-room only crowd spoke about noise and pollution from the Metrolink train yard in the Glendale Narrows at a community meeting Thursday at Dickerson Employee Benefits on Riverside Drive.

The meeting was organized by Assembly member Gil Cedillo's office. According to the popular blog Corralitas Red Car Property:

Officials got an earful of issues about noise from locomotive engines, bells and horns at all hours, as well as air quality and health issues from cumulative exposure to diesel exhaust of the idling trains. 

A representative of Friends of the Los Angeles River also wondered how the train emissions might affect water quality in the Los Angeles River, especially now that recreational access is being considered.

Metro officials made a list of community concerns and pledged to hold another meeting in January to report back.
