Polka-Dot Painting Begins at 6 a.m. Sunday at Sunset Triangle Plaza

Dozens of workers will be on hand Sunday to hand stencil polka dots along Griffith Park Boulevard between Edgecliffe Street and Maltman Avenue in Silver Lake.

Things are moving quickly.

Workers will arrive around 5:30 am Sunday to see the stretch of street covered with red cones and barriers, as well as yellow tape.

Around 6, two expert trucks will start laying down green paint along the entire stretch.

(These same trucks are used to paint red curbs around the city.)

Right behind them, workers will hand-stencil polka dots along the entire stretch, presumably shifting the red cones and barriers as they go.

Everything's supposed to be done by the end of the day.

Fingers crossed.

Later this week plants and benches will be installed.

The park's grand opening is March 4.
