Negotiaters Talk Jumper from Downtown High Rise
Hours of tense negotiations succeeded in getting a woman from jumping off the 25th floor of a downtown highrise.

LOS ANGELES, CA -- After a nearly four-hour negotiation, a woman who was threatening to jump to her death from a downtown building agreed to surrender to authorities and was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, police said tonight.
The drama on the 25th floor of a building under construction at 801 S. Olive St. in downtown Los Angeles began at about 6:15 p.m., according to Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Officer Ricardo Hernandez.
Police and firefighters began negotiating with the woman to try and convince her not to kill herself, Hernandez and fire department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.
