Suspect Sought in Attempted Robbery at Bank of America in Echo Park
A lone man entered the bank just after 1 p.m. Saturday and passed a note demanding money.

Police are seeking a suspect in an attempted bank robbery early Saturday afternoon in Echo Park.
An LAPD detective said the man walked into the at 1572 Sunset Blvd. just after 1 p.m. and slipped a teller a note demanding money.
Lead detective Steve Koman of the LAPD’s Robbery and Homicide Division said the man escaped, but “no one was hurt” and “no one was injured."

Koman said that the suspect is a white male, approximately 5-feet, 5-inches tall, 150 pounds. He is believed to have been wearing a beige sweater. It has not yet been determined whether the man was armed.
Koman added that the detectives would be talking to the FBI to see if the incident was related to others, and that a photo of the individual would be released soon after, possibly Monday.

Koman said there were no more than 10 people--including employees and customers--inside the bank when the incident occurred. The branch was closed immediately after for the investigation, leaving puzzled customers to the nearby ATMs.
Detective Koman stated investigators had no reason to believe it was an inside job.
Investigators spent about two hours inside the bank interviewing witnesses and bank officials on Saturday.
