TELL US: What's in Echo Park's Future?
This thread's got some attention lately. What do you think?

Long ago (at least in Patch years) Kelly Smith created a thread at the site to discuss “How do you see Echo Park in the future?”
“Is it a place that’s grown or gotten bigger? Devolved? A place for families or young, single 24-year olds?” she asked on December 16, 2010.
For whatever reason, this thread’s been getting some attention lately.

Here are two recent exchanges, the first from Gab:
"Having lived in the area off and on for almost 35 years, I have seen several evolutions of the neighborhood. I see it currently becoming rather gentrified. All the gang activity I remember from the late 80s has moved out. There is a great deal more ethinc diversity than there was when I was a kid. But as with any neighborhood I think it is cyclical. In 30 - 40 years it will have had some natural deterioration and a new crop of 20 and 30 somethings will come in and start the process all over again. I think it just is that kind of neighborhood that goes through these kinds of cycles."

The second is from hipsterspleasegoaway:
"Eventually the hipsters that come and enjoy the diversity, and art, and music and culture of this neighborhood will drive all of those elements out of the neighborhood and will be left enjoying each other. These people come in Herds and don't do a thing for this neighborhood, all they do is take. Artists and musicians give, they create something and bring something to the world that wasn't here before."
Okay, now. What do you see in Echo Park’s future?
