El Cerrito Emergency Warning Test Scheduled For Saturday

The message is part of a virtual evacuation simulation involving the local police and fire departments.

EL CERRITO, CA—The Contra Costa County Warning System (CWS) will be sending a test message to all registered residents in both El Cerrito and Kensington this Saturday, Aug. 22.

According to city officials, the message is part of a virtual evacuation simulation involving the local police and fire departments along with other surrounding partner fire agencies.

City officials stressed that this is only a test. There is no actual evacuation needed.

Residents are being encouraged to register with CWS to make sure they get the message, as well as help spread the word.

"It could save lives someday! Thank you in advance for participating in the virtual evacuation drill," city officials said in an online statement.
