9th annual Lite Up Leucadia and 1st annual Shop Local Leucadia Kicking Off

Shop local Leucadia will feature a unique Leucadia product or service each day between November 29th and December 24th. Lite Up Leucadia kicks off Dec. 1.

Local brick and mortar shops will light up Historic Hwy 101 in Leucadia this holiday season. “Our mission is to create an experience for locals and visitors when they spend time in Leucadia along our now bustling retail corridor” said Carris Rhodes, Executive Director of the Leucadia 101 Main Street Association.  For that reason the Leucadia 101 Main Street is proud to present their 9th annual Lite Up Leucadia and the first annual Shop Local Leucadia Campaign. These events are aimed at reminding the public that shopping at locally owned retailers is vital to our local economy and also provides an avenue for stress free, enjoyable holiday shopping!

Based on recent studies by organizations such as Civic Economics and the New Economics Foundation, it is proven that shopping locally not only supports small retailers but it has a huge ripple effect for keeping money within your community. Studies indicate that when shopping at a locally owned retailer 68% of the money you spend re-circulates within the community as opposed to only 43% at a nationally owned chain. Not only is this good for our local economy but many of the store owners in Leucadia are your neighbors!  Leucadia has a very high percentage of business owners who live within a few miles of their storefront.

Shop local Leucadia will feature a unique Leucadia product or service each day between November 29th and December 24th. This program will engage the Facebook and Instagram fans of the Leucadia 101 Main Street to give the public unique, affordable and quality gift ideas for the holidays. The Leucadia Main Street has a well curated list of local artists and shops who will be featured in Shop Local Leucadia. The Main Street is committed to its local retailers and restaurants who provide diverse and quality products for visitors and residents.
