Update: Medical Examiner Identifies Man Who Died After Car Ran Off Road
Kenneth Rogers of Laguna Beach died Tuesday after his car fell about 150 feet into a ravine near Birmingham Drive.
The 73-year-old man who when his car ran off Interstate 5 and into a nearby ravine has been identified as Kenneth Rogers of Laguna Beach, according to the Medical Examiner's Office.
The autopsy report (PDF file attached) states that Rogers died from blunt force injuries after his car sped through the intersection of the exit ramp for Birmingham Drive, collided with the guardrail and then fell about 150 feet into the embankment. The car rolled over at least once and stopped against a fence.
Firefighters extracted Rogers from the vehicle and he was then taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
