Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation Announces Nature’s Magic Fundraiser
The event is slated for June 2.
Editor’s Note: The following news release is from the Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation.
On Saturday, June 2, there will be magic in the air while Dr. Wilderness, Emmy Award-winning Khevin Barnes, presents his show, “Magic for Planet Earth” as part of Nature’s Magic Extravaganza, a fundraiser sponsored by Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation (BLF). Also featured at this family-oriented event is nature videographer, Jim Karnik, who will be showing his documentary, “The Wilds of San Diego,” in pure digital. The location for the event is Dove Library, 1775 Dove Lane in Carlsbad, and three showings featuring both presentations are scheduled: 9-11 am;
11 am--2 pm, and 2-4 pm. The ticket prices are $25 for a family of four and $15 for individual tickets. Tickets can be purchased on line at the BLF website: www.batiquitosfoundation.org.

"This event should be very magical and provide for a fun way to support Batiquitos Lagoon Ecological Reserve,” says BLF Board President Fred Sandquist. “At the same time, as the Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation is an all volunteer organization with no paid staff," continues Sandquist, “it provides us with much needed financial resources to support our many programs, including operation of our Nature Center. Come join the fun and support Batiquitos Lagoon, a North San Diego County treasure.”
Lunch, sold separately, will be provided by Joey’s BBQ & Doc’ Saloon, a locally owned, family-oriented Carlsbad restaurant. A Silent Auction is also part of the event and features items and gift certificates from local merchants, such as

Space is limited, and there may not be tickets available at the door the day of the event, so the public is encouraged to purchase tickets in advance. For more information, call the BLF nature center at 760-931-0800. All proceeds benefit Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation, a 501(c) 3 non-profit corporation.
Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation was formed in 1983 with the mission to preserve, protect and enhance the Batiquitos Lagoon Ecological Reserve and is completely volunteer supported. Once feared lost as a natural habitat for many endangered species, the Batiquitos Lagoon has made a remarkable recovery in recent years and is now one San Diego County’s most valued natural treasures.
