Beaches Remain Closed Thanks To Ongoing Rain Storms
Excessive runoff from rains cause high bacteria levels closing Silver Strand, Imperial Beach, Coronado and Tijuana Slough shorelines.
ENCINITAS, CA — Thanks to yet another atmospheric river driven storm, every beach from Oceanside south to Border Field, is either under a General Rain Advisory or closed due to high bacteria levels, according to San Diego County's Department of Environmental Health and Quality.
Four beaches are closed due to high bacteria levels including the Imperial Beach Shoreline from the south end of Seacoast Drive to Carnation Avenue, the Silver Strand Shoreline in its entirety, the Coronado Shoreline from Avenida Lunar to North Beach and the Tijuana Slough Shoreline from the U.S. / Mexico border including Border Field State Park and the Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge.
The closures so some improvement over last week when Buccaneer Beach in Oceanside and Carlsbad State Beach at Batiquitos Lagoon Outlet were also closed.
