'Board & Brew' Slated For Encinitas Village Square Shopping Center
The favored beach scene sandwich shop received Planning Commission approval for an Encinitas location in the Trader Joe's Shopping Center.
ENCINITAS, CA — Encinitas is one step closer to opening its first Board & Brew restaurant. The Encinitas Planning Commission has approved requested permits to retrofit the former dentist's office in the Trader Joe's/Ralph's shopping center at El Camino Real and Encinitas Boulevard.
Founded in Del Mar, the sandwich shop Board & Brew was built on a love of quality sandwiches and craft beer. Word has spread across Southern California about the simple, straightforward concept, according to the corporate website.
Encinitas is one of three upcoming franchise expansions for the restaurant founded in Del Mar in 1979.

Commissioners said at the meeting that the location is a "great addition" to the shopping center. Minor concerns about noise from a proposed outdoor patio with room for 20 percent of restaurant diners arose at the meeting.
The plans show indoor dining with ten tables and 20 seats and an outdoor seating area for 28 seats.

The shop, open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, has requested permits to sell alcohol at the establishment.
Letters from nearby residents asked how noisy the establishment would be after dark. However, those concerns were quelled during the meeting, according to Commissioner Susan Sherod, who lives nearby.
During the meeting, she shared that given the low number of occupants at any given time, she didn't believe noise would be a factor.
The Board and Brew chain has sandwich shops from Los Angeles to Chula Vista and as far east as Temecula and Tempe, Arizona. Along with Encinitas, the expanding eatery is also heading to Torrance and Cypress.
