Cardiff Woman Who Died in Jail Identified

A Cardiff resident who died while in sheriff’s custody at the Vista Detention Facility has been identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Marion Michelle Lopez, 43, was found unresponsive in her cell around 10:35 p.m. on June 23 by detentions deputies making hourly rounds, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office. Paramedics began resuscitative efforts, but they were unable to revive her and she was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The cause of death has not been released.
