Change Your Clocks, Change Your Sprinklers
When you set your clocks back as Daylight Savings Time ends on November 3rd, adjust your sprinkler timer to water less frequently.

With winter approaching, it’s time to cool it on watering. That’s the message from San Dieguito Water District (SDWD) and Olivenhain Municipal Water District(OMWD), the two water districts serving the City of Encinitas.
SDWD Water Conservation Specialist Felice Tacktill advises, “Now that the days are getting shorter and the weather is cooling off, it’s time to check your irrigation timer. Turn down your timer, water early in the day and shut off your irrigation system during rains. Let nature water your plants, save water and save money too!”
In fact, she notes, “After the rain, let your lawn tell you when it's time to water again. If the soil is still moist a couple inches below the surface, wait a few more days before irrigating.”

Fall Back
When you set your clocks back as Daylight Savings Time ends on November 3rd, adjust your sprinkler timer to water less frequently. Don’t forget to check the timer’s battery (and also check the battery in your smoke detector, as the Fire Department advises).
