Chick-Fil-A Restaurant In Encinitas To Close Christmas Weekend

ENCINITAS, CA — All Chick-fil-A restaurants nationwide, including those in San Diego County and the Golden State, will go dark for an entire weekend later this month, a rare occurrence.

Chick-fil-A locations typically close Sundays, but this year they will close on Dec. 25 as well to observe Christmas Day.

There are 160 store locations in California, including one in Encinitas and nearly 20 in San Diego County, according to the chain's website.

These are the Chick-fil-A locations in the San Diego area:

• 194 N. El Camino Real, Encinitas
• 1290 Auto Park Way, Escondido
• 8200 Parkway Drive, La Mesa
• 400 Mile of Cars Way, National City
• 3475 Marron Road, Oceanside
• 13464 Poway Road, Poway
• 804 Dennery Road, San Diego
• 3570 Sports Arena Blvd., San Diego
• 5323 Mission Center Road, San Diego
• 5955 Balboa Ave., San Diego
• 9370 Scranton Road, San Diego
• 10750 Camino Ruiz, San Diego
• 11670 Carmel Mountain Road, San Diego
• 17115 Camino Del Sur, San Diego
• 587 Grand Ave., San Marcos
• 9418 Mission Gorge Road, Santee
• 475 Hacienda Drive, Vista

Locations will reopen on Dec. 27, but operating hours will vary by restaurant, the company said.

The founder of Chick-fil-A, the late Truett Cathy, was a devout Baptist. The restaurant chain gives its employees Sundays off to attend church.

"Chick-fil-A restaurants will be closed on Christmas Day so our restaurant teams can spend time with family and friends. We will also be closed on Sunday, December 26 – as we are every Sunday — but look forward to serving you when we reopen on Monday, December 27," the restaurant chain announced.
