City Accepts Grant for Encinitas Firefighter Gear

The Encinitas City Council voted unanimously to accept an Assistance to Firefighters Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for $244,423 to purchase gear that allows firefighters to breathe during a blaze.

The Encinitas City Council voted unanimously Wednesday to accept an Assistance to Firefighters Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for $244,423 to purchase gear that allows firefighters to breathe during a blaze.

In addition, the council voted to transfer $61,105 to a work project for the city’s matching share. 

Councilman Mark Muir—a former fire chief—thanked Encinitas Fire Department members for their work.
