Injured Dog Gets New Home

John Van Zante, of the Rancho Coastal Humane Society, has some great news for local dog:

Got word this afternoon that "K.C.," the little dog that nearly lost her life when she was attacked two weeks ago by her family's other, larger dog, is going to be adopted!

Following the attack K.C. was rushed to VCA - Bonita animal hospital in Chula Vista. Her family was pretty sure that, because of the extent of her injuries, K.C. would not survive. But when the VCA staff saw that she still wagged her tail when they touched K.C. they asked the family to turn her over to them. Surgery was performed, saving K.C.'s life. She arrived at Rancho Coastal Humane Society in Encinitas on Wednesday.

Her new "people" met K.C. today. They filled out an adoption application and took part in an adoption interview with RCHS Shelter Manager Libby Kovalcik. After the interview the potential adopter went home, then returned with her other dog so it could meet K.C. in a neutral setting. (They had adopted their other dog from RCHS two years ago.)

The meeting went well. The adopter will be returning to Rancho Coastal Humane Society on Friday to "cross the I's and dot the T's" then take KC home.
