ENCINITAS, CA — Buy a sandwich and help someone in need out: win-win. On Wednesday, Jersey Mike’s sub shops across the San Diego area, including two locations in Encinitas, will donate 100 percent of their sales to Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego, a nonprofit, 511-bed pediatric-care facility dedicated to excellence in care, research and teaching.

The initiative is part of the company’s 14th annual Day of Giving, when 2,500 Jersey Mike’s locations around the country are expected to give over $20 million to local charities. Since the Month of Giving began in 2011, the chain has raised more than $67 million, according to a company news release. Stores have also been collecting donations for their chosen charities for the entire month.

Fifty-six stores throughout San Diego and the surrounding communities will donate all of their sales Wednesday to Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego.
