Encinitas Runners Show Strong Turnout for Carlsbad Marathon and Half
More than 200 locals laced up for the race yesterday.
Yesterday marked the annual Carlsbad Marathon and Half, and Encinitas had a strong representation at the finish line thanks to the more than 200 local runners who turned out for the event.
Steven Underwood was the fastest Encinitas marathoner, finishing with a 2:53:12 and placing 9th overall. He was among the 35 Encinitas runners who completed the marathon, which you can see a complete list of here. Mario Macias, 30, from Alamosa, CO came in first place overall for the marathon at 2:22:24.
For the half-marathon, Jeff Creighton led the Encinitas group, finishing with a 1:21:29 and placing 34th overall. There were 194 other Encinitas runners who also ran that course, and you can see a complete list of them here. Ezkyas Sisay, 23, of Flagstaff, AZ came in first overall for the half marathon with a time of 1:04:43.

Of course, Encinitas runners will soon have another reason to lace up. In just a few weeks, our community will gather at Moonlight Beach for the Registration for that 5K and 10K are still open.
